- “Usage Information” – Information related to a User’s use of the Website that may be collected during the course of such use by Lagiga Data Forensics using common information gathering tools, such as cookies and web beacons. - Collection Methods. Lagiga Data Forensics uses common information-gathering tools, such as cookies and web beacons, to collect various information as Users navigate the Website. Below is a list describing methods by which Lagiga Data Forensics may collect and use User Information.
- Web Beacons. Lagiga Data Forensics uses web beacons, alone or in conjunction with cookies, to collect Usage Information regarding Users’ interaction with emails they receive from Lagiga Data Forensics. A web beacon is an electronic object embedded in a web page or email that can recognize certain types of information on a User’s computer, such as the time and date of a page viewed, and a description of where the web beacon is placed. For example, web beacons that Lagiga Data Forensics places in outbound marketing emails will notify Lagiga Data Forensics when the recipients open an email or navigate to the Website by clicking a link located within in the email. Lagiga Data Forensics typically uses web beacons to assist operation of the Website and improve Lagiga Data Forensics’s email communications. Users may be able to disable web beacons in email messages by not downloading external objects contained in the message they receive (this feature varies depending on the email software used on the User’s personal computer). However, doing this may not always disable a web beacon or other automatic data collection tools in the email message due to specific email software capabilities. For more information about this, please refer to the information provided by your email software or service provider.
- IP Addresses. Lagiga Data Forensics collects User IP addresses to track and aggregate User Information. For example, Lagiga Data Forensics uses IP addresses to identify the geographic regions from which Users access and use the Website. Lagiga Data Forensics uses IP addresses in part to assist with ensuring compliance with security and legal requirements, and to identify Website access or use that may otherwise violate the Website’s terms of use.
- Cookies. Lagiga Data Forensics uses cookies to help make interactions with the Website easy and meaningful for Users. When a User visits the Website, Lagiga Data Forensics’s servers send a cookie to the User’s browser. Standing alone, cookies do not personally identify a User; rather they identify and allow the Website to recognize the User’s web browser. Unless a User elects to identify him- or herself to Lagiga Data Forensics, such as by responding to a promotional offer or completing and submitting a form located on the Website (such as “Contact Us”), the User Information will not enable Lagiga Data Forensics to identify the User personally. Lagiga Data Forensics uses session cookies, persistent cookies, and flash cookies. Session cookies exist solely during the web browsing session in which they are created. Most browsers delete session cookies when the browser is closed or when the computer is turned off. Persistent cookies remain in the web browser’s files after the browser is closed or the computer turned off. Flash cookies (also known as “local shared objects”) store more and different types of information, in a different method, than do standard browser cookies. Users should consult their web browser’s documentation to learn how the web browser can be configured to restrict the Website’s ability to use cookies. Please note that restricting a web browser’s ability to accept Website cookies will prevent the Website from providing the User with full access and functionality. Below is a summary of how Lagiga Data Forensics uses different types of cookies.
- Required Cookies. Cookies necessary for Users to access and use certain sections of the Website, such as portals, communities, and other such sections that are available only to Users who have registered, password-protected accounts on the Website. Each time a registered User logs into the Website, a cookie containing Personal Information unique to the User is placed on the User’s browser. Performance Cookies do not collect Personal Information for the purpose of identifying individual Users. Performance Cookies provide only Non-Personal Information, which Lagiga Data Forensics uses solely to improve the Website’s content and performance. From time to time, Lagiga Data Forensics may engage third parties to track and analyze certain User Information. Lagiga Data Forensics may also utilize Flash cookies for these purposes.
- Functionality Cookies. Functionality Cookies can also be used to store display preferences a User has set, such as text size, font, local language, or other customizable Website features. - Targeting or Advertising Cookies. From time to time, Lagiga Data Forensics may engage third-party vendors to track and analyze User Information. Lagiga Data Forensics sometimes uses cookies delivered by third parties to track the performance of Lagiga Data Forensics advertisements. For example, these cookies remember which browsers have visited the Website. User Information provided to third-party vendors does not include Personal Information, but after receiving it from such third-party vendors, Lagiga Data Forensics may re-associate the User Information with Personal Information. Lagiga Data Forensics also contracts with third-party advertising networks that collect IP addresses and other User Information from web beacons on the Website, from emails, and third-party web sites. Advertising networks may follow a User’s online activities over time by collecting User Information through automated means, including through the use of cookies.
